This role supports a NATO training center in Norway by providing specialized expertise in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) matters. The expert contributes to large-scale joint military exercises, helping design realistic scenarios and operational dilemmas to enhance alliance readiness. The position involves advising senior military and political leadership, developing exercise materials, coordinating with various exercise control cells, and ensuring CBRN elements are accurately represented throughout training activities.

Responsibilities

Develop strategic and operational level challenges related to CBRN within exercise scenarios. Ensure training objectives are supported by scenario content, coordinate with other exercise control teams for coherence, and prepare meeting documentation. Monitor training audience activities and provide timely feedback to adapt exercises effectively. Advise and act as the main CBRN contact during exercise preparation and execution, analyzing and recommending improvements to CBRN aspects of scenarios. Support lessons learned processes and doctrinal updates relevant to CBRN activities. Participate in daily coordination meetings and fulfill additional duties as directed.

Qualifications

A minimum of three years' recent experience in CBRN at a political-military or strategic international level, including briefing senior leaders and decision makers. Strong command of English, both written and spoken, suitable for senior staff communication. Competence with Microsoft Office applications, and familiarity with NATO operational tools is advantageous but not mandatory. Must hold a valid National or NATO Secret security clearance. Willingness to work on-site in Stavanger, Norway, and to travel occasionally to other NATO locations.
