Job summary
Seeking an experienced Land Subject Matter Expert to support NATO operational training exercises at the NATO Joint Warfare Centre in Stavanger, Norway. The role involves developing and coordinating realistic opposing force (OPFOR) scenarios in the land domain, ensuring synchronized simulation content that challenges allied forces to meet training objectives. This position requires strong operational planning skills and extensive military experience to contribute to exercise design, development, and execution phases within a multinational environment.

Responsibilities
Develop and oversee OPFOR land incident content and effects to align with exercise objectives. Coordinate with various exercise control cells and command to ensure quality and realism of land force simulations. Participate in incident and scripting workshops, contributing expert advice to shape exercise storylines and injects. Support dynamic scripting and crisis response during exercise execution, coordinating daily with other teams to maintain synchronization. Provide leadership within the OPFOR land cell, guiding staff and managing shift schedules as required. Contribute to operational design, target list development, and battle damage assessment reporting.
Qualifications
Minimum eight years of military experience within the last twelve years in operational land domain roles, holding at least the OF3/OF4 rank (e.g., company or squadron commander). Proven staff officer experience at division level or higher within land, joint, or NATO command structures (J2, J3, J5 domains). Experience with operational planning in land operations and deployments to international missions. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Higher-level civilian, military, or staff college education or equivalent degree. Business level English proficiency. Valid National or NATO Secret security clearance required.
