Responsibilities
Lead and oversee internal accounting controls to protect assets and ensure accurate financial information. Coordinate and prepare financial statements and related schedules. Analyze financial data to recommend corrective actions. Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in all accounting, management, and reporting tasks. Support decision-making with financial analyses of operations and capital projects. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts including cash statements and tax files. Prepare reports for external audits and manage schedules related to long-term debts. Conduct monthly financial closings, including reconciling general ledger to cash accounts for payable and payroll. Attend relevant internal meetings and perform additional finance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Proven experience in financial accounting covering general accounting, budgeting, cash and procurement management preferably within local government finance or similar institutions. Strong understanding and practical knowledge of internal control systems and GAAP. Ability to lead and oversee finance team members. High initiative, accountability, and integrity in work approach. Skilled in financial analysis, reporting, and reconciliations. Comfortable operating with limited established procedures while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
