Responsibilities
Lead a team of physicists and engineers developing core beamline technologies, including the design, testing, and implementation of complex high-vacuum instrumentation. Plan and execute experiments with atom and charged particle beams, analyze results using Python scripts, and prepare comprehensive technical documentation. Translate strategic objectives into actionable deliverables, delegate tasks aligned with team members' skills, and provide continuous feedback. Forecast technical skill needs, participate in recruitment and onboarding processes, and ensure high technical standards throughout the team.
Qualifications
PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience in instrument development within academic or industrial environments. Proven leadership experience managing complex scientific or engineering projects for 2-3 years. Hands-on expertise in high and ultra-high vacuum hardware and instrumentation, with a strong understanding of vacuum theory. Demonstrated success delivering R&D projects from conception through completion, preferably with molecular or charged particle beams. Experience with CAD software and laser optics is advantageous but not mandatory. Fluency in English is required; Norwegian language skills are not specified.
