This role involves designing, operating, and improving large-scale bare metal provisioning platforms with a focus on OpenStack Ironic. The engineer will manage the full physical infrastructure lifecycle, automate workflows, ensure platform reliability, and collaborate across teams to support both internal and customer-facing services in a high-tech cloud AI environment.

Responsibilities
Design and maintain scalable bare metal provisioning platforms using OpenStack Ironic, managing full hardware lifecycle from provisioning to decommissioning. Automate onboarding, firmware configuration, deployment workflows, and recovery using infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools. Oversee integration with related OpenStack services and ensure compliance with security and operational standards. Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and provisioning issues, act as a high-level escalation point, conduct root cause analyses, and partake in on-call rotations. Collaborate with multiple teams including network, compute, data centre, and support, contributing to the infrastructure roadmap and supporting pre-sales solution design. Engage with upstream OpenStack bare metal communities through contributions and aligning platform roadmaps.
Qualifications
Extensive experience with Linux system operations and troubleshooting production infrastructure. Deep expertise in OpenStack Ironic and bare metal provisioning technologies including PXE/iPXE, DHCP, BMC interfaces, RAID, firmware management, and node lifecycle. Proficiency with out-of-band management tools like Redfish or IPMI. Skilled in automation with Ansible and scripting in Python and Bash. Proven ability to manage infrastructure at scale focusing on reliability and repeatability. Strong collaboration skills and experience contributing to open-source infrastructure projects, especially OpenStack or similar environments.
