Job summary
Seeking an experienced maritime military professional to support complex NATO exercise planning and execution in Stavanger, Norway. The role involves acting as an Opposition Force (OPFOR) Subject Matter Expert for maritime operations, contributing to scenario development, dynamic exercise scripting, and operational coordination within a multinational training environment. The position requires deep expertise in maritime command and staff functions within NATO or comparable structures and supports NATO readiness through realistic operational training.

Responsibilities
Support the development and coordination of maritime OPFOR elements within NATO joint exercises, including incident development, scripting events in exercise management systems, and real-time execution. Collaborate closely with Exercise Control and other OPFOR cells to ensure realism and alignment with overall maritime joint plans. Provide expert advice on maritime operational design, synchronize computer-assisted exercise requirements, and assist with battle damage assessment reporting. Participate actively in workshops, boards, and crisis action teams, contributing maritime expertise to ensure training objectives are met and dynamic adjustments are incorporated effectively.
Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years recent military experience with at least 2 years at sea and rank of OF4 or above. Proven command of a maritime task group at OF4 or higher. Staff officer experience at 2* or higher level in maritime or joint NATO or national command roles, including operational planning domains J3, J5, N3, or N5. Previous NATO assignments or deployments in maritime operational roles. Skilled in assessing Recognized Maritime Picture (RMP), including maritime traffic analysis. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Higher military, civilian, or staff college education or equivalent degree. Business-level English proficiency. Valid national or NATO Secret security clearance required.
