Job summary
This role involves providing expert advisory support to large-scale NATO military exercises, contributing senior-level operational and strategic expertise. The advisor works closely with exercise control teams and participating military staffs to ensure training objectives align with NATO doctrines and operational challenges. The position is based in Stavanger, Norway, with potential remote work on an ad-hoc basis and requires substantial recent high-level military command and mentoring experience along with fluency in business English.

Responsibilities
Provide senior expert advice and mentorship during NATO Joint Warfare Centre exercises, focusing on Exercise Play Functions within the Exercise Control Organisation. Support the integration of strategic, operational, and tactical challenges into exercise planning and execution. Assist in analyzing participant produced orders and provide guidance to resolve operational inconsistencies. Contribute to exercise synchronization and command and control, attend coordination meetings, and collaborate with senior mentors to enhance exercise delivery. Undertake additional duties as assigned related to exercise conduct and evaluation.
Qualifications
Minimum three years of recent (within last 10 years) experience in NATO or national command environments at operational or strategic levels, including high-level exercise planning and delivery. Proven leadership and mentoring skills evidenced by recognized qualifications and at least OF-7 military command experience within the last seven years. Graduated from a senior staff or equivalent military or national Defence College. Ability to operate effectively in a multinational, dynamic environment with strong English communication skills. Must hold valid National or NATO Secret security clearance.
