Job summary
This role is for an experienced Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join a remote R&D and engineering team based in Europe. The position involves designing, building, and scaling backend applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to technical decisions within a fast-paced AI company. The work includes handling products with adult content, requiring full comfort with such material. English language proficiency and working hours overlapping Central European Time zones are necessary.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Ruby on Rails. Collaborate with product management to clarify requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Plan technical integrations, break down development tasks, and estimate effort. Implement new features while enhancing existing platform capabilities. Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code. Participate in code reviews and testing activities. Diagnose and resolve application issues to improve reliability and performance. Engage in technical decision-making and contribute to product roadmap discussions. Experiment with new technologies to enhance product functionality and user experience. Work closely with distributed engineering, infrastructure, and product teams.
Qualifications
At least 5 years of commercial experience as a backend or full-stack software engineer with strong, recent Ruby on Rails expertise in production environments. Proven ability to independently design and implement complex backend features on applications serving thousands or more monthly active users, with understanding of building reliable and scalable systems. Experience working in dynamic environments such as technology scale-ups or startups, comfortable with changing priorities and tight deadlines. Demonstrated capability to manage the feature development lifecycle from requirements through testing and production. Excellent spoken and written English skills, and ability to effectively collaborate with international remote teams. Based in Europe with availability overlapping CET ±3 hours. Comfortable working on AI products involving uncensored, adult content.
