Responsibilities
Lead key initiatives to enhance the search engine's performance and relevance. Develop new search features and fix complex bugs while improving code clarity. Collaborate remotely with experienced engineers worldwide on vector search capabilities and search relevance improvements. Engage with global community contributors by managing issues, reviewing code contributions, and supporting ongoing development. Write idiomatic, modern Java code, and work with a variety of data storage technologies.
Qualifications
Proven professional experience with search or vector databases and relevant algorithms such as HNSW or IVF. Strong Java programming skills, including expertise in data structures, concurrency, and modern language features like lambdas. Ability to independently manage projects from design through implementation and collaborate effectively in distributed teams using asynchronous communication. Experience with multiple data storage systems and applying AI techniques to accelerate development and optimize code is expected. Bonus for open source contributions and leading cross-functional initiatives.
