Job summary
This role involves providing expert sociocultural insights to support NATO training exercises at a joint warfare center in Stavanger, Norway. The expert will advise military and exercise control staff on cultural implications affecting operations in diverse environments, aiding in the development and refinement of training scenarios and documentation. The position requires significant experience in sociocultural anthropology, familiarity with NATO operations, and capability to brief senior officials and participate in scenario role-play to enhance training effectiveness.

Responsibilities
Provide scientific sociocultural advice to exercise control and training audience staff to understand cultural impacts in operational scenarios. Assist in translating sociocultural considerations into exercise content and scenarios. Review training audience orders and recommend improvements for cultural accuracy. Mentor exercise control personnel on sociocultural issues within exercise delivery. Develop scenario documents aligned with sociocultural contexts. Participate in role-playing as cultural or diplomatic figures during exercises to simulate realistic interactions.
Qualifications
Master's degree or equivalent in Social or Cultural Anthropology with strong expertise in sociocultural anthropology principles. Over three years of recent practical experience in the relevant cultural regions, including briefing senior leaders at governance or equivalent levels. Experience working alongside NATO at the operational level. Proficient business-level English language skills. Possession of a valid National or NATO Secret security clearance.
